Searching for financing opportunities
28 August 2007 - The current issue of eMessenger, the online publication of HIMSS EMEA (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society; Europe, the Middle East and Africa) focuses on financing and investment of healthcare IT.
As a second contributor, Alexander Dobrev from empirica looks at models of financing different stages of the eHealth investment life-cycle, and explains how the financing model changes as the eHealth project goes through planning, implementation and operation.
The lead contributor is Tom Jones from TanJent - a close partner of empirica on the economic and financial topics related to eHealth, including the study "Financing eHealth: Assessment of financing opportunities available to Member States to support and boost investment in eHealth" for DG INFSO, starting in September 2007.

The European Commission's brochure “Information Society and Health: Linking European Policies” has been produced
12 April 2007, Brussels - The European Commission's brochure “Information Society and Health: Linking European Policies” has been produced by Information Society Policy Link (ISPL), an initiative of Directorate General Information Society and Media, that aims to link information society projects with European policy-makers across a wide range of policy domains. It refers among others in some detail to the empirica led eHealth IMPACT study, the eHealth ERA and i2-Health projects - all covering issues of key relevance for European eHealth policy development and implementation.

Rising popularity and interest towards the eHealth IMPACT results
24 October 2006, Geneva/ Brussels - Judging by the rising levels of
interest, the results from evaluations of the economic performance
of European eHealth implementation sites prove to be of great value
to the eHealth community. The presentation of the eHealth IMPACT study
at the World
of Health IT conference
in Geneva (10-13 October) attracted a large audience and received very
positive feedback. The eHealth IMPACT study was selected eHealth
project of the month for October 2006 by the European Commission.
The study was also topic of the interview given by Karl Stroetmann
and Alexander Dobrev for the upcoming issue of the Healthcare
IT Management magazine.
Further, the study is presented in a feature
article by IST Results,
a dissemination service for Information Society Technology Research
activities.
At the Royal Society of Medicine TeleMed & eHealth '06 International
Conference in London (20-21 November), a plenary lecture, together
with contributions to two parallel sessions are devoted to particular
cases and overall results from the eHealth IMPACT study.
The eHealth IMPACT study publication presented by European Commissioner Ms Viviane Reding
11 October 2006, Brussels - The results of the eHealth IMPACT study, with a foreword by Ms Viviane Reding, European Commissioner for Information Society and Media, were published by the European Commission under the title “eHealth is Worth it: The economic benefits of implemented eHealth solutions at ten European sites”. On October 11th, Ms Reding presented the publication to the Brussels Roundtable (BRT) – a meeting gathering major European ICT companies together with Representatives of Regions to discuss opportunities and challenges for eHealth deployment in European regions. The publication “eHealth is Worth it” is available online .
Congress of the German Society for Medical Informatics
September 2006, Leipzig: The project will be presented during the Congress of the German society for Medical Informatics in Leipzig. Wendlin Schramm, director of EUMEDES and part of the study team will introduce the audience to effiency aspects in health technology assessment. more on the website of the congress
IZIP - the Czech nationwide electronic helath record system - a leading European example of successfully implementing eHealth infrastructures
23 of May 2006, Prague: "What many health politicians across the globe are talking about - providing their citizens with a pragmatic solution to access their health data - has already been successfully realised in the Czech Republic." This was the opening statement of the European expert on EU eHealth affairs, Dr. Karl A. Stroetmann, when he presented today in Prague the results of their Study on the Economic Impact of eHealth (eHI). Presentation of results at eHealth High Level Conference
Malaga, May 2006. At the eHealth High Level Conference the project presented its results. Attended by about 200 persons the project introduced the audience to findings of the eHealth Impact, and presented four good practice examples from a hospital level up to a cross border case studie.
